About Bjorn Sjogren
BJORN SJOGREN,
A Swedish - American and now Mexican abstract impressionist/expressionist painter with an interesting life.
Art with meaning, art with content and, sometimes even art with soul
I create images using my life experiences, often mixed with my current inner feelings and a kind
of simplicity of Scandinavian design. The title is placed under the image to allow words to interact with the design: the viewer's brain then produces the image.
How long does it take me to make one of my pieces? A lifetime: all my experiences have shaped the way I create.
In the 35 years since I started to paint, I have heard comments on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean from people who find traces of long-gone masters in my art. While it is flattering to receive these comments, I would like to point out that I have never studied the forms of expression/impression of any artist. In fact, I never attended an art class or studied art history. I briefly attended a drawing class, to understand how to draw the human body with the correct proportions, etc., but the class bored me and I left it ...
Looking back at my art, I realize that many of the individual pieces are time documents of my place in life. This is the way I paint. Each piece is original. And just like my life, it never gets boring ...
